I have a confession to make: my TBR (to-be-read) pile is out of control. Like, teetering-on-the-edge-of-my-nightstand, could-collapse-at-any-moment out of control. It started innocently enough—a book here, a book there. But before I knew it, I was drowning in a sea of unread novels, with no end in sight.
You’d think I’d stop buying new books until I finished the ones I already have, right? Ha! Not a chance. There’s something about the allure of a shiny new book that I just can’t resist. That feeling of cracking open a fresh spine, the smell of the pages, the promise of a new adventure—I’m powerless against it. And so, the TBR pile continues to grow.
But here’s the thing: I’m okay with it. Sure, it’s a little overwhelming, and yes, I probably should have some kind of system in place (a TBR jar, maybe?). But honestly, I kind of like the chaos. It’s like having my own personal library at home, where I can pick and choose what I’m in the mood for at any given moment. Fantasy? Got it. Mystery? Yep. That new literary fiction everyone’s talking about? It’s in there somewhere.
Plus, there’s a certain thrill in knowing that I have endless possibilities at my fingertips. Will I ever get through my entire TBR pile? Probably not. But that’s part of the fun. It’s like a never-ending treasure hunt, and every book I add is a new piece of treasure waiting to be discovered.
So, if you’re like me and your TBR pile is more of a TBR mountain, don’t stress. Embrace the chaos, and remember: the more books, the merrier. Just make sure your nightstand is sturdy enough to handle the load.
